Thanks, Joan! It was particularly fortunate that friends visiting San Juan Island from Los Angeles just happened to be standing on my deck that evening, about to leave, when this pod appeared and put on quite a show! We’d already had close encounters at the house with a family of otters and a couple of Bald Eagles that evening, and then having the orcas come so close made it seem as though I have magic powers 🙂
