<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, when I walked out to the deck with my morning coffee recently, I was given a fine suggestion for what kind of breakfast omelet I might create:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/fallingcrab.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"[IMAGE] crab\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Into every life, a little crab must fall.<\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This immediately reminded me of  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexshapiro.org\/blog\/?p=1724\" style=\"text-decoration:none\" target=\"_blank\"><b>last year&#8217;s culinary offering. <\/b><\/a> Maybe I should open a seafood restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>The commercial fishing season has begun here, and what is normally a quiet, isolated view:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/southeast.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" alt=\"[IMAGE] Cascades\" \/><br \/>\n<em>from the Cascades&#8230;<\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/southwest.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"269\" alt=\"[IMAGE] Olympics\" \/><br \/>\n<em>&#8230;to the Olympics.<\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;suddenly becomes the flotilla equivalent of the San Diego Freeway in rush hour:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/trawlers.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"196\" alt=\"[IMAGE] trawlers\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/fishingview2.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"289\" alt=\"[IMAGE] fishing boats\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>One large purse seiner, The Emancipator (not exactly the Abe Lincoln of fish), anchors right next to my house for a few days. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/trawleranchored.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"302\" alt=\"[IMAGE] trawler\" \/><br \/>\n<em>People who live in glass houses should consider putting clothes on.<\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s endless amusement for me and any friends who happen to be here, watching the smaller boats sidle up and toss their catch, one hapless salmon after another, over to the larger boat.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/flungfish2.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"353\" alt=\"[IMAGE] fish toss\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/flungfish.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"489\" alt=\"[IMAGE] fish toss\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Look closely and you can see the flying fish.<\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I swear, it&#8217;s as though  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pikeplacefish.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Pike Place Fish Market  <\/b><\/a> has come to my doorstep.<br \/>\nNow, if only I could get these fishermen to turn in my direction and fling one of these salmon onto my deck with their best pitching arm!<\/p>\n<p>A huge flock of gulls is waiting for table service.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/gullswarm.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"327\" alt=\"[IMAGE] gull flock\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As is a fox, who sits on my deck, licks his chops, and hopes something fabulous might fall from the sky, since that seems to be what happens around here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/foxlick.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"204\" alt=\"[IMAGE] fox\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/blogpix\/blackfoxface.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" alt=\"[IMAGE] fox\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"clear: both;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>And he keeps waiting, right there under the table. Looking more than a tad disdainful.
