Perhaps Laird would be surprised to find out that it has the same effect on others, for different reasons. To have the opportunity to push the envelope and know the value of that opportunity is beautiful, but to get there and learn how small you really are, is timeless. Not the path of the usual celebrity, but then again I don't see him as a celebrity. I doubt he does either. Of course, celebrities are not usually under a 30+ft wall of water either...that's for the real guys (Laird & Co.) Alex – you are too blessed if that is possible.

Very inspiring and beautiful. Laird Hamilton is one of my neighbors; I see him pretty regularly here on the beach paddle surfing, paddle boarding, and just being... gorgeous Laird :-) When they're not in Hawaii, he and his wife live in a cute house on the other side of the pier. The day after we saw "Riding Giants," Charles and I happened to run into him on the beach and stopped to chat. I asked him what the experience of watching a film about his childhood and his life was like for him, and he paused, became very sentimental, and touchingly said that it actually brought him to tears at places. So sweet. “Riding Giants” is awesome! Very inspiring and beautiful.
