Mere seconds after noting the lack of a pun in the post's headline comes this:

**“Oh, I could be their fartist in residence!”.**

I bet you dream in puns.

Hi Jane, what a lovely comment! Congratulations on your book-- the subject of assisted suicide is very important to address, and I hope that your book continues to get press. You set a good example for pursuing that which is meaningful! I am staring out to Mt. Finlayson as I type this, and I'm smiling at you.

Hi Alex
I met you just once, at a Soroptimist meeting in Friday Harbor. I'm the one who resonated to your talk, had recently published my first work of fiction, and left you with the quit 'Not to shoot is also to miss'. I have moved from SJI to a retirement community in Asheville, NC, but my island property remains in my family, and I am busily still marketing the book I feel so strongly about. Flora's Wreath has recently been reviewed in Dish Magazine - link below - and the beat flows on. Thanks for your wonderful photos. I recall sitting atop Mt. Finlayson with my black lab Cindy, eagles all around us, feeling at one with the universe. I don't have tv service either. Good to see you.

all best -- Jane

Well, your last sentence is absolutely right: the great thing about these interactive, real-time tools, is that they allow me to build relationships and make contact with the rest of the world without having to do the physical traveling. But as for the necessity part: the secret is that the kind of interaction I do is also exactly what I believe composers in big cities also need to do. I see absolutely no difference! I'd be doing Skypehearsals if I still lived in Los Angeles, because no matter where I live, metropolis or not, I'm destined to not be in the same places as my music and those wonderful, brave souls who rehearse and perform it. So I love to tout the usages of these new-- and thankfully, ever-evolving-- tools, because they really are for everyone, not just weirdos like me :-)

You are certainly on the cutting edge of technology - and brave besides: Skype with a live audience during a performance - what could possibly go wrong?

Occurs to me you are pioneering this out of necessity by not living in the Big City and it will eventually help all of us. Now you have to find a way to stay at your desk for longer stretches and reduce the hectic traveling. :)

Thanks, Michael. I love the fact that all of us can make use of all of our interests and passions simultaneously. I'll never stop composing, I'll never stop writing, and I'll never stop snapping photos. It's so much fun to have a blog with which to share all three!

High praise coming from the #1 bio-person in this fabulous neighborhood! I'm so glad you like my little posts, Judy. What a day, indeed. If every summer day were like this one, it would be perfect! We began by planting the first round of seeds in Dan's garden farm, then spent the afternoon doing our respective "work," and ended with wine on the deck over here as an eagle and three deer hung out on the ridge. And the moon rising the past few nights-- huge, orange and looming-- can you believe this? Ahhh....
